The Blasdel Barn was built in 1909 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. I spent a lot of time wandering around and in the barn as a child, as my family's farm was directly across the road. While most things in our lives tend to diminish in size as we get older, this beauty of a barn looks as majestic and impressive as it did when I was younger.

The background was built using hand-painted fabrics cut into tiles and layered along with appliqued hills and mountains. The barn is created using watercolor pencils and layers of thread. Hand dyed cheese cloth, yarn and extensive thread painting and quilting embellish the landscape, giving layers of texture to represent the layers of history.
