It is easy to fear the dark--be it the unknown corners of our bedrooms as children,
or the metaphorical darkness that we feel in our lives or society. However, even when
it feels as if the shadows will overwhelm us, it is good to remember that it takes very
little light to make a difference; and that every long night is followed by the dawn.
The Background was created using many different tiles of fabric fused and then stitched
in place. Layers of appliquéd trees, hand dyed cheese cloth and Angelina where then
combined to create the distance, mist and glow of the coming dawn.
This art work is currently touring as part of the Broad Perspective textile show. It will be returning at the end of 2023.
