A Bird in Hand

The Chickadees in our yard have long learned

that our hands are friendly and often carry tasty nuts.

It is a special thing to sit quietly listening to the sound

of bird wings fluttering, a happy chirp, and the feel of

a firm but gentle grip on your finger as a feathered

friend stops and returns your steady gaze with its own.
