Quilted Woven Wonders: Circle weaving
Using applique techniques you will learn how to create a woven background using two fabrics and some decorative stitching. During class we will discuss fusibles, stitching techniques, and relationships between needle size and thread weights.There will also be a trunk show of different woven projects and a demo on how to create the 3-D Dragonfly in the photo.

| Skill Details: | This is class is for all levels. If you are new to applique, this class will give you some great insights on how fusibles work fabric and tips for stitching through layers on your projects. |
| Requirements: | Machine in good working order. Walking foot (Or even-feed-dog foot) and free motion (or darning foot) highly suggested. Supplies: Two fabrics that compliment each other with different values (so some contrast can be seen) at least 12" square Batting (low loft suggested) at least 14" square. (suggested: Thermolam Plus) Backing fabric the same size as your batting Binding fabric Threads to match or compliment your woven fabrics Cutting surface (i.e. rotary mat) Rotary cutter (smaller size will work better for this technique) Small sharp scissors Tear away Stabilizer 14" square (Suggested Totally stable) Sharpie or felt tipped marker Fusible web (suggested Pellon Wonder Under) *I do NOT suggest that people use steam a seam for this technique. |

| Instructor Bio: | Monique is a collage artist of techniques ? blending her respect for traditional patchwork with bobbin-work, thread painting, watercolors, felting, weaving, and often on her own hand-dyed and hand-painted fabrics. Many of her compositions include three-dimensional objects with a variety of fibers and textures. Born and raised on the same farm where her grandfather grew up in Northwest Montana, she picked up the tradition of quilting from her mother. An avid quilter and teacher, her mother's work lit her creative fire, and much of what she has learned has come from playing and experimenting together. The things that Monique cherishes most from her mother's teachings are the desire to constantly discover and explore, embracing her sense of adventure, and of course, having a sense of humor. Monique owns and operates Ladybug's Cabin in Bigfork, Montana, and has designed over two dozen patterns for applique, table d?cor and bed quilts. She considers her patterns an invitation to explore and play, and she loves to share her fascination of color and texture in the fiber arts to inspire others to let their creativity shine. |
